Sport Premium
What is Sports Premium?
The government provides additional funding each year to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding will be allocated to primary schools, and is ring-fenced, and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. At Tannery Drift this will equate to an annual lump sum of £16,000 plus £10 per pupil.
How Tannery Drift utilises this funding
This is an exciting opportunity to enhance our wider PE curriculum and sporting achievements through additional facilities and clubs.
We have highlighted areas where we feel the funding will be most beneficial.
- Continued involvement with the School Sports Partnership which facilitates programmes of coaching for our children and involvement in inter-school festivals and competition.
- Professional development of our staff in areas such as gymnastics to further our high quality PE provision.
- Continue to develop a range of extra-curricular sporting activities, giving specific attention to the needs of pupils who find it difficult to access clubs.
- Provide opportunities to increase physical activity during break and lunchtimes.
We feel it is extremely important to use this funding wisely as we have always valued our involvement in High Quality PE and School Sport and monitor its impact closely. In this way we wish to encourage our children to develop a healthy lifestyle through sporting experiences and achievements.
