Following the amazing spectacle of the Olympic and Paralympic games in summer 2012, where countries from all over the world visited London, Tannery Drift School has embarked on a school twinning project through Link Ethiopia, now known as Together We Learn Ethiopia, to enhance the children’s understanding of life in another country.

We have a long standing and well established link with Salem Elementary School in the Gondar region of Ethiopia. This provides many rich opportunities to compare lifestyles, culture and take part in joint curriculum activities such as the Kinetika Linking Our Futures art project.

In comparison to schools in the UK, Salem is materially deprived and we support them in attaining valuable resources through our annual Harvest Festival fundraising. In addition to the children’s fundraising efforts staff have completed a variety of sponsored sporting challenges to raise in excess of £1000.
