Curriculum

French

At Tannery Drift School, we believe that learning a foreign language is a vital part of an enriched and broad curriculum, promoting and developing many skills, including speaking and listening. From Year 3, children have a weekly French lesson during which they are introduced to basic vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation of the French language. The goal is to develop students' ability to communicate in French, to understand simple spoken and written language, and to start building cultural awareness. Through a series of interactive activities, songs, and games, students will learn how to introduce themselves, talk about their likes and dislikes, describe their families, and ask and answer basic questions. By the end of Year 4, students will be able to confidently use a range of simple French phrases and expressions to communicate in real-life situations.
